CASHMIR -
Study of Fun With Filling Patterns II is the new selection for the Joyce Lukomski workshop scheduled for February 2005.

The rich
tapestry of the East comes alive with the depth of colored silks and the
opulence
of golden threads in this exciting study. Students of this workshop will not
only increase
their needlework expertise and stitch vocabulary, but also have a fun time
exploring the
many possibilities of filling stitches. A contemporary geometric design in a
pleasing
hexagon shape will be the vehicle to display wonderful patterns and filling
stitches from
both European and Oriental origins. Japanese filling patterns, laid
fillings, squared
fillings, and scattered fillings will work together to enhance the grid of
the canvas. The
subtle sheen of silk combined with floss overdye and the glimmer of metal
will work
together in countless combinations of color, line and texture. Each student
will be
encouraged to create a favorite filling pattern based on techniques tried in
the class. The
project was designed to fit into the lid of a 7 1/2" square box top, but can
also be framed.
Kit Includes:
24-count ivory congress cloth size 12" x 12"; Au Ver a Soie silks and cotton
flosses in an
assortment of colors, several different stitchable and non-stitchable
metallics, an
assortment of needles, colored photograph and complete instruction
booklet.

that the dates for the workshop have been changed from February 10th and

8 September
2004, which is the date of the September meeting. Checks received on that
day or post-marked on 8 September 2004 will be given first consideration.
